Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy includes both preventative and rehabilitative services that will help you get back to doing the things you love without pain or limitations. Here at PhysioStrength Physical Therapy, we use a combination of manual therapy techniques and an individualized treatment plan of therapeutic exercises to help you get rid of pain and optimize your movement for an improved quality of life.

Dr. Katie Bucholz earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Diego, CA in 2014. She is a Certified Orthopedic Specialist since 2016, as well as residency trained in Orthopedics. She also holds a Spinal Manipulation Endorsement through the state of Washington. Katie was an adjunct faculty member of the University of St. Augustine in San Diego for 5 years in the Musculoskeletal Classes and Movement Sciences. Prior to physical therapy school she completed a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ where she was also a D1 collegiate athlete for swimming.

Dr. Katie Bucholz has been working in the outpatient orthopedic setting for her entire career and specializes in the diagnosis and management of sports injuries, orthopedic injuries, post operative as well as general musculoskeletal conditions including cervical and lower back pain, shoulder pain as well as knee and ankle injuries. Growing up in the world of athletics she understands the mentality and desire of wanting to maintain your body’s ultimate potential. Her holistic, evidence-based treatment approach has an emphasis on manual therapy and functional therapeutic exercise with movement coordination training and ergonomics. It is her life’s passion to be able to return patients to their greatest potential and have people enjoy themselves in the process. She believes in tailoring each treatment program to fit the needs of each patient.

In 2010 Dr. Claudia Burns received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and in 2014 earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of New England in Portland, ME. Since then she has exclusively worked in outpatient rehabilitation, learning a variety of skills and techniques to expedite patient recovery from a multitude of conditions. She spent eight years practicing in Maine before hitting the road as a travel therapist, completing contracts in Washington, New Mexico, Alaska, and Indiana, but is excited to settle down here in Washington.

She is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist, and enjoys combining both hands-on and active interventions to reestablish quality movement and performance. She has over 10 years experience treating a wide-range of conditions including chronic low back and neck pain, post-operative rehab, and various sprains/strains, and undiagnosed aches and pains acquired from adventurous weekend warriors and dedicated desk jockeys. Her goal is to connect, inform, and inspire people to lead active, healthy lifestyles and one of the joys of her life has been helping people get back to the activities that make them feel fulfilled.

When not working she can be found running or hiking the gorgeous mountain trails of the PNW, backpacking, reading, working out, cooking (okay…eating!), or spending quality time with her boyfriend, Corban, and their two cats. Dr. Connor Naccarato is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Manual Therapist, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is a co-owner of PhysioStrength Physical Therapy and is dedicated to providing quality care to his patients.

Dr. Connor Naccarato has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of sports injuries, orthopedic injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions. He particularly enjoys seeing post-op sports injury patients such as ACL injuries, labrum injuries, and meniscus injuries. He treats athletes and patients of all ages and backgrounds and enjoys helping people get rid of their pain and return to doing the things they love. Dr. Connor Naccarato understands that each patient is different and has individualized needs. He will work with you to create a personalized recovery program that will help you reach your specific goals.

Dr. Alec Schroff earned his degree at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Prior to graduate school, he earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Alec Schroff is passionate about enabling his patients to achieve all of their goals through a holistic approach. He places a strong focus on patient education so they can fully comprehend every aspect of their injury or deficits. Dr. Alec Schroff’s specialty is teaching his patients how to better understand and communicate with their own bodies. He knows this is vital to provide long term solutions to current barriers preventing his patients from living their best life. As a St. Louis, MO native, Dr. Alec Schroff is enjoying living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He enjoys getting outdoors to explore and gain new life experiences with his wife and two dogs. Dr. Derek Straus attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison for his undergraduate education and received a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology. During his time at Wisconsin, he also was a four-year letter winner with the football team and 2x academic all Big Ten. He then went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Derek finished his Doctorate education by completing Kaiser Permanente’s Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) residency which focused on restoration of impairment through specialized coordination, strengthening, and mobility treatments. He was a part of the spinal cord injury team, but also treated a wide range of patients from general back pain to ACL rehab.

Dr. Derek Straus specializes in sports rehabilitation, orthopedic conditions, amputee rehabilitation, and gait/balance. Derek uses his past experiences as a D1 football player for the Wisconsin Badgers to help develop rehab as well as wellness programs for his patients. With his past in athletics, Derek can closely relate to the injured worker, adult, or athlete making sure to tie in exercises that will help with confidence during return to function. Derek believes in a holistic, evidence-based approach to treatment that will address multiple areas of the body if needed to heal your injury/surgery. He has years of experience with various manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise to help with restoration of your injuries.

Derek grew up in Wisconsin playing hockey, football, and baseball with his friends and family. He moved to Missouri for his Doctorate education where he met his wife. They enjoyed spending time at the lakes and in Springfield with friends. Shortly after their graduation, they moved to the PNW seeking adventure in the mountains through hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing. Dr. Meagan Trisko attended the University of California, Davis for her undergraduate education and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Neurology, Physiology, and Behavior. She went on to receive her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 2021 with honors and is one of the very first inductees to the National Physical Therapy Honor Society.

Dr. Meagan Trisko specializes in orthopedics and enjoys working with patients of all ages, injuries, and needs. She understands that every patient is unique and creates individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to help her patients reach their goals. She has experience working with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, balance/fall prevention, post-COVID recovery, and post-surgical patients. She is passionate about empowering her patients with knowledge about their bodies, movement, and overall fitness in order to give them the tools necessary to live a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Meagan Trisko was born and raised in San Diego, CA, spent 3 years in Miami, FL, and now is excited to call Washington her new home base. Meagan and her husband, Scott, love to travel, visiting 19 states together in the last 2 years.
